Trauma, attachment & EMDR therapy
for women in Charlotte, NC
you are always growing, always blooming.
You reread every text before you send it, and again after
Your brain runs "what-ifs" on a loop, especially at night
Part of you is ready for things to feel different. Another part has no idea what the first step even is.
Things you may not say out loud
Something that happened still shows up in your body, even though you've moved on
You've never done therapy and honestly don't know what you'd say
You know your patterns and still end up in the same kind of relationship
You're the friend everyone calls, but you're not sure who you'd call
Saying no comes with a side of guilt
You’re your own harshest critic, even on the days you’re doing “fine”
Your stuff doesn't have to be "bad enough" to deserve therapy. You don't need a big trauma, a crisis, or the perfect words. "Something feels off, and I'm not sure what" is a great place to start.
Growth isn't always loud. Sometimes it starts with roots long before the blooms.
The things we can untangle
-
For the things that happened, big or "not that bad," that still take up space, including betrayal. EMDR helps your brain process those memories so they stop running the show.
-
Why you love the way you do, and how to feel secure without shrinking yourself to keep the peace.
-
For the overthinkers, over-apologizers, and recovering "easy" ones. Learn to say no without the guilt spiral.
Sometimes the life you built no longer fits who you’re becoming. Transitions, anxiety, and the big “what am I doing with my life?” questions happen — bring them.
Hi, I’m Mary!
I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and EMDR therapist based in Dilworth, Charlotte.
I believe the relationship between us is one of the most important parts of therapy, and the research agrees: feeling comfortable with your therapist is one of the strongest predictors of whether therapy actually helps. So my first job is making sure you feel at ease. Ramble, cry, laugh, change your mind mid-sentence. You never have to perform being a "good client" with me. Therapy here is a real conversation between two people.
I'm not the stiff, nodding-and-writing therapist you might be picturing. I'm a real person who gets real life: the group chat drama, the relationship that's "fine," the career you're second-guessing, the family stuff that still gets under your skin. You won't have to over-explain. Expect honesty, some laughter, real progress toward the goals that matter to you, and a therapist who's in your corner through all of it.
Getting started
Reaching out is the hard part. I’ll make the rest easy.
Step 1
A free 10-minute call
Fill out the form on my contact page. A sentence or two is plenty. We’ll set up a free 10-minute call where you can ask anything and see how talking with me feels.
Step 2
Your first session
Feeling nervous before a first session is completely normal. You don’t need your story organized or the right words. We’ll go at your pace, and you share only what you’re ready to.
Step 3
From there
Together we’ll figure out what you want from therapy, and we’ll adjust as life happens. Some weeks feel like a breakthrough, and some weeks are just showing up. Both count.
