Frequently Asked Questions

  • Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and it’s natural to wonder what the process looks like. Mary makes the experience straightforward and supportive from the very beginning.

    Step 1: Initial Contact

Clients can reach out through the contact form, phone, or email to schedule a free consultation. This first step is an opportunity to share what you’re looking for and ask any questions about the therapy process.

Step 2: Free 10 Minute Consultation

Mary offers a brief 10-minute phone consultation to help you decide if therapy at Everbloom Counseling feels like the right fit. This is a no-pressure conversation where you can learn more about her approach and discuss practical details like scheduling and fees.

    Step 3: First Therapy Session

The first session focuses on understanding your needs, history, and goals. Mary creates a safe, welcoming space where you can share at your own pace. Together, you’ll begin to outline a personalized plan that may include approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), or EMDR therapy.

    Step 4: Ongoing Sessions

Regular sessions are where the work of therapy takes place. Depending on your needs, this may include building coping strategies, processing trauma, improving relationships, or managing stress, anxiety, and depression. Mary adapts her approach to ensure each session supports your growth and healing.

    Step 5: Progress & Growth

Therapy is a collaborative journey. Over time, clients often notice improvements in resilience, self-understanding, and emotional balance. Mary regularly checks in with clients to reflect on progress and adjust the focus of sessions as needed.

  • If you've never been to therapy before, it's completely normal to feel a mix of curiosity and nervousness. At Everbloom Counseling, we create a warm, judgment-free space where you can show up exactly as you are.

In your first session, we will take time to get to know you—your story, what brought you to therapy, and what you're hoping to work through. You won't be expected to have all the answers or explain everything perfectly. This is simply a conversation where you set the pace. We will ask gentle questions to understand your experiences, but you're always in control of what you share.

Therapy isn't about being "fixed"—it's about being heard, understood, and supported as you navigate life's challenges. Whether you're dealing with anxiety, relationship struggles, life transitions, or simply feeling stuck, we will work collaboratively with you to explore what feels right for you.

You might leave your first session feeling relieved, emotional, or even a bit uncertain—all of these reactions are normal. What matters most is that you've taken a brave first step toward growth and healing.

  • Everbloom Counseling is an out-of-network practice with all insurance carriers. We provide clients with a superbill (itemized receipt) that can be submitted to your insurance for possible reimbursement, depending on your plan. Please reach out to your insurance carrier directly to determine your out-of-network benefits.

    Sliding Scale & Accessibility

Mary believes therapy should be accessible. Limited sliding scale spots are available based on financial need. Please ask during your consultation to discuss this option.

  • Everbloom Counseling makes an effort to offer both in-person and virtual therapy. We provide in-person therapy at 1814 Euclid Ave, Suite #5 in the Southend/Dilworth neighborhood of Charlotte, NC. • Therapy can be helpful if you're experiencing:

    • Feelings that feel overwhelming or hard to manage on your own—like persistent sadness, anxiety, anger, or numbness

    • Life transitions that feel challenging, like a breakup, job change, loss, or becoming a parent

    • Relationship patterns that keep causing pain or confusion

    • A sense of feeling stuck, lost, or unsure about your direction

    • Past experiences that still affect how you feel or function today

    • A desire to understand yourself better, even if nothing feels "wrong"

You don't need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. Many people start therapy simply because they want support during a difficult time, want to grow as a person, or feel like something is "off" but can't quite name it. If you're wondering whether therapy might help, that curiosity itself is often a good sign that it's worth exploring.

Therapy might be right for you if:

    • You're open to talking about your thoughts and feelings

    • You're willing to try new perspectives or approaches, even if it feels uncomfortable at times

    • You want a safe, confidential space to process what you're going through

    • You're ready to invest time and energy in yourself

It's also okay if you're uncertain. Ultimately, therapy is for anyone who wants support, clarity, or change. You don't have to have everything figured out before you start. Sometimes just showing up is enough.
